Lunch at Texas Roadhouse
Posted by Rhea on April 15th, 2008 filed in Hits, Resto HoppingLast weekend, I went to meet up with my girlfriends from UP - Donna and Ria. It has been years since we’ve seen each other and it was really great catching up. Our first stop was the Texas Roadhouse Grill in Bonifacio High Street. Stepping into the restaurant brings you the atmosphere of a typical Texan diner, with servers in cowboy/cowgirl outfit, greeting you at the entrance. The interiors of the place remind me of a countryside bar - cozy and quite casual. The wooden panels that hide the concrete walls, the swing type saloon door and the brown leather boots that adorn the walls of the waiting area leading to the comfort room are reminiscent of cowboy movies I used to watch with my Dad when I was a little kid.
We were seated at a corner booth and served nuts while waiting to pick our orders from the menu. We ordered Parmesan-crusted fish fillet and Wrangler’s Pork Steak. Ria and Julia agreed to split the fish fillet, while Donna and I agreed to split the pork steak. The entree was good for one person according to the menu, but by Filipino standards, it was good enough for 2.
The fish fillet is a huge fillet of cream dory seasoned and breaded with parmesan and herbs, served with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. The Wrangler’s Pork Steak, on the other hand, is a tender slice of pork, grilled to perfection, topped with gravy and mozzarella cheese, also served with a generous helping of steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes.

Other must tries in Texas Roadhouse includes their Rodeo Salad

… the Chicken Buffalo Wings (which comes in Mild, Medium and Spicy)

… and last but definitely not the least, the mouthwatering baked prawns

The food was pretty good and service was fast and efficient. The vegetables were fresh and not soggy, the meat was cooked just enough to keep it tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes was a winner - it wasn’t made of powder like other restaurants out there!
Total bill was around Php 700++ for 4 persons. For the ambience and the price, our lunch met the criteria I was gunning for: cheap and yummy. Indeed, good food need not be all that expensive
